Greetings from the Department of English!
I take great pride in penning this address. English is a unique and endearing language that tugs at every soul with its potency. Its power when unleashed creates a world in itself. Students pursuing English as a UG or PG subject are doubly blessed when they take up careers based out of English. Both UG and PG programs cater to the present needs of society and contributes greatly to the knowledge Economy.
Our department aims at sensitizing the students to a closer scrutiny of literary texts in their proper contexts. In doing so, the students are made aware of the basic principles of literary and cultural studies. Also, the department takes immense effort to provide career-oriented courses for the students of all disciplines. Every year value-added certificate courses are introduced – Calligraphic Writing and Sign Language Training. With the Language Lab in place, with the State-of-the-art infrastructure, it caters to Final Year students for placement services and Phonetic Training.
Bridge Course is another training tool that is unique to the Department of English. Specific and targeted outcome-based learning materials are especially prepared by the Department for bridging second and tertiary education conveniently.
All faculty members take utmost effort, with their experience and expertise, to make the department an emerging program for excellence. The number of University ranks produced is a benchmark of the Department’s success in producing focused and career oriented students./p>
The outreach programs in collaboration with Mithralaya Foundation from 2017 has been a benchmark of success for the Department. This has instilled in the students a sense of social responsibility.
