MISSION OF RESEARCH PROGRAM

Research, the scientific process of learning and sharing is enriched when it becomes habitual in thinking and applying the same in the methodology of Teaching. In order to highlight this typical approach to the scholars and to face the challenges that panic them to complete their project, the Research Committee of Patrician College of Arts and Science collectively makes an effort to guide the scholars by constantly encouraging, motivating and guiding them to gain new knowledge about research. The systematised efforts of the research committee acts as source of pertinent information for the scholars to gain confidence in choosing the topic, publishing an article and to present their thesis with courage and confidence. Therefore the Vision of Patrician College “To seek, To strive and To find” is accomplished by including the Mission of Research program as an academic activity

  • Research Advisory Committee

    To render advice and direction for future development and advancement on research cultures to the top management, a "Research Advisory Committee" is being constituted with qualified experts from different research disciplines. The advisory committee will give guidance on Academic Research, Funded Research, Consultancy and so on. The extent of the exercises visualized for the committee incorporate,

    • To provide the institutional research activities.
    • To provide research guidelines and improvement of research culture activities.
    • To encourage the faculties and students to publish research articles in UGC - CARE list journals.
    • To motivate the researchers, faculties and students to present research papers in [public forums] seminars and conferences in National and International level.
    • To organize seminars and conferences at National and International levels in collaboration with universities, industries and other institutions for knowledge transfer.
    • To attract research related funds for supporting and facilitating research ideas and projects of faculties and students.
    • To recommend projects suitable for availing concession, if any, from State as well as Central Governments, other Institutions, etc.

    Code of Ethics – Plagiarism policy
    • The PG and M.Phil dissertation should be tested for plagiarism by the respective Head of the Departments before the students submit their hardcopy.
    • All research work must be based on original ideas.
    • The research thesis must be checked for originality and plagiarism by the Research Supervisor before submitting it to the University.
    • The Research papers/articles must be tested for plagiarism through software (online tools) before submitting them to Research Journals/ Scopus etc. for publication.
    • According to the UGC norms, the level of plagiarism must be less than 10% for research articles and thesis.
    • Each supervisor shall submit a certificate indicating that the work done by the researcher under him/her is plagiarism free.
    • Any violations in this regard should be taken to the knowledge of the Principal for necessary disciplinary action.
    • lagiarism Disciplinary Committee constituted by the Principal will look into all the issues of plagiarism and recommend suitable action to be initiated against the defaulter.
    Levels of Plagiarism

      Plagiarism would be quantified into following levels in ascending order of severity for the purpose of its definition:

    • Level 0: Similarities upto 10% - Minor similarities, no penalty
    • Level 1: Similarities above 10% to 40%
    • Level 2: Similarities above 40% to 60%
    • Level 3: Similarities above 60%
    Penalties in case of plagiarism in submission of thesis and dissertations

    Institutional Academic Integrity Panel (IAIP) shall impose penalty considering the severity of the Plagiarism.

    • Level 0: Similarities upto 10% - Minor Similarities, no penalty.
    • Level 1: Similarities above 10% to 40% - Such student shall be asked to submit a revised script within astipulated time period not exceeding 6 months.
    • Level 2: Similarities above 40% to 60% - Such student shall be debarred from submitting a revised script for aperiod of one year.
    • Level 3: Similarities above 60% -Such student registration for that programme shall be cancelled.
    Research Award

    Every year the following four Research awards will be granted for four members:

    • Best Researcher Award for Faculty
    • Best Researcher Award for Women Faculty
    • Best Research Project Award for Under Graduate(UG) Student
    • Best Research Project Award for Post Graduate(PG) Student
    Research Support

    Financial support will for research mobilize from Government and Private funding. The management will extend support through seed money through partial financial assistance. The college Wifi enabled, faculty and student will have access to infrastructure facilities like Library, Computer Lab and Internet connectivity to facilitate the research cultures.

    Research Day

    Every year Research day will be observed. On the occupation, research projects of faculties and students will be presented, judged and the best Research Project will be awarded. There will also be a Research Seminar/ Workshop on Symposium to make the day with renowned researcher invited.

    Ph.D Regulations

    The Degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) is awarded to a candidate who, as per these regulations, has submitted a thesis on the basis of original and independent research in any particular discipline or involving more than one discipline (inter-disciplinary) that makes a contribution to the advancement of knowledge, which is approved by Board of examiners as required.
