History
The Department of Mathematics, established in the year 2015 started B.Sc. Mathematics as its first academic programme with the sanctioned strength of 55 students. It has a responsibility in encouraging the students to understand the various nuances in Mathematics. The department not only nurtures the talent and skills in the subjects offered in the curriculum but also focuses on the subjects that help them to choose a career. The department motivates the students to prepare for competitive examinations and register for online courses. Further, the students are encouraged to participate in paper presentation, NBHM training programme, intercollegiate competition held at various colleges, and Invited /Guest lectures given at various colleges.

I take this opportunity to welcome you to the Department of Mathematics. The department is scaling to new heights. A student had attended a Mini-Mathematics Training and Talent Search Programme [MTTS], held at Hindusthan college of arts and science, Coimbatore
TNPSC coaching classes for Group –IV category and coaching for Combined Civil Service Examination was a noteworthy initiative by the department. Totally 33 students from the department attended and wrote the examination on 11th February 2018. Another initiative was encouraging students to take up NPTEL online course on “Numerical Methods in Matlab”. In order to facilitate in completing the assignments, the department mentored the students.
With the help of Source Hub Placement Services, the students underwent a training in preparing Curriculum Vitae and Personality Development training. A good number of students in our department have been placed in reputed companies through campus recruitment.

The program helps the learner to understand various mathematical concepts and theories which develops the ability to think independently paving way for lifelong learning. The program enhances arithmetic skills, aptitude skills and logical skills which increase employability.
Programme Specific Outcomes
The learner understands the realistic applications of Mathematics in various sectors. The learner will be able to apply logical reasoning and critical thinking skills to interpret numerical and graphical data and to promote mathematical knowledge to a career related mathematical science. The program also gives an opportunity for post-graduation which helps them to upgrade themselves as a professional in this course.
