B.A. Journalism was introduced in the academic year 2017-2018 in Shift II for the benefit of
the students interested in taking up Journalism as their Bachelors’ degree. This course helps
the students to concentrate more on the news aspects pertaining to media.
Journalism is the form of media study that is inclined towards being aware and keeping the
greater society informed. Students are trained to indentify news from the society through field
works, taught the news language and ethics and laws to be followed to construct a news story, to capture the moments through photo journalism, edit the news, design and publish their
stories.
The department of Journalism incorporates career- oriented Core subjects such as Basic
Journalism, Desktop Publication, History of Press in India, Webpage Designing, Social
Issues in India, Photojournalism, Political Issues in India, Reporting and writing news, Economic Issues in India, Broadcast Journalism with Real World Industrial Internship
Training.

The Department of Journalism is a newly established department and it is a part of school of media studies. The department aims at training the students to dissipate the truth through journalism. The main focus is to make sure the students are well versed in theories of art, development and management of communication. Advertisement, public relations and content writing are also part of the programme The department believes that internships which are part of the course provides scope for the students to learn the best from hands on experience. The department organizes industrial visits for the students which gives them clarity and the process involved in the field of journalism. The department organizes various competitions and workshops at department and College level which enhances the creativity of the students and help them learn about managing and organizing such activities.
