History

The Department of Commerce (Shift II) was introduced in the year 2010. The Department aims at providing knowledge in the field of commerce and accounting with a curriculum that ensures the gap between what is taught and what is practiced in industry bridged by arranging Seminars and through Industrial Visit.

The Department encourages and motivates the students to take up competitive exams and by conducting various competitions to bring out their talents. It is dedicated to develop the students into responsible citizens of the country with high moral values, understanding the problems of human relationships and developing a capacity to appreciate the finer values of life through mentoring.

Vision

To equip students with knowledge and skills in the field of Commerce, inculcate values, identify hidden talents, provide opportunity for students to realize their full potentials and shape them for employment, as a future leaders, entrepreneurs and good human beings.

Mission

To improve the standard of the course innovative teaching methods are used and the broad goal of our department to mould the students into accountable citizens, developing a sense of dedication and to gain productive employment in different sectors of commerce, trade and industry.

Welcome to the Department of Commerce (Shift II), Patrician College of Arts & Science, Chennai. The Department of Commerce was established in 2017 to inspire skills and to provide the younger generation with knowledge in students which would introduce them to pursue and explore higher education in Commerce stream. It offers a score of academic events, assignments and competitions with their regular curriculum round the year to enhance creative thinking as well as application-orientation of the students. The curriculums are taught by well-qualified faculty members having academic excellence, dedication and commitment to teach using innovative methods. The Department of Commerce motivates the students to participate periodically in various innovatively-designed programmes, academic events, cultural programs organized by other institutions. Industrial visit is arranged to provide an exposure to students about practical working environment. Commerce Expo is organized to inculcate practical knowledge among students. The Department of Commerce is continuously moving ahead with the goal of addressing students by conducting career guidance programme and assisting them to become successful in any field they would like. With emphasises on academic excellence, character formation and overall development of student, the Department of Commerce welcomes you, dear undergraduate student, for an enriching experience and hope to be part of your excellence in education.

Programme Outcomes - BACHELOR OF COMMERCE-GENERAL

The program helps the learner to have a comprehensive knowledge regarding Accounts, Finance, Marketing, Taxation and Business Laws which makes the student a trained professional for various industries and corporate sector.

Programme Specific Outcomes

The learner develops the necessary skills and attributes to enable them to work in various positions like accountant, Financial Analyst, Sales Executives, Stock Agents etc. The program also gives an opportunity for post-graduation which helps them to upgrade themselves as a professional in this course.
